WATT, stylized as W.A.T.T., is an All-Service CyberPatriot team located at Troy High School in Fullerton, California. Formed from the W.A.T.T. Charter on April 21st, 2023, W.A.T.T. first competed in the CyberPatriot XVI Season of 2023-2024. During that season, team W.A.T.T. qualified for and won the All-Service Division National Championship.

Members

The following are the six members of team WATT:

History

W.A.T.T. Charter

During the CyberPatriot XV Season, there were two teams at Troy that later merged into team WATT. The first of which was 15-0194, which included Yu and Wang among others, and the second was 15-0522, which included Xiong, and Gu. Negotiations took place prior to the end of the XV season, and on April 21st, 2023, the WATT charter was signed, with the aforementioned members as its founders.

Recruitment

WATT, now lacking a Linux and Windows specialist, attempted to recruit for their team. Xia, who would later become a member, was kept as an option while the team tried to contact others, to little success. The Triple Cisco option was once considered viable by WATT, but was later rejected.

By late April 2023, Linux recruitment was being finalized with Feng. On April 30th, Feng joined the team, and just two days later, the entire general channel was wiped because of disputes between Feng and Wang.

Coach David

On July 16th, 2023, Xiong, as Service Captain, invited LAPD IT Professional David Chou as a mentor for the team. He was separated from the main channels due to the discussion of inappropriate topics by team members, and served as a guide, especially so as the team entered Nationals.

Recruitment Comes to a Close

By August 20th, 2023, Windows recruitment had been narrowed down to Ahn, A. Hsieh, and Xia. Ahn was hastily dismissed without a formal interview, and so was Hsieh, leaving only Xia. On August 24th, 2023, the team officially had 6 members, and recruitment was closed.

Stubblefield as Coach

Due to their emotional connection with the former Cyber program head, on August 27th, 2023, WATT selected US Navy Commander Robert Allen Stubblefield as their coach for the year, and he would guide them during their nationals journey.

Gu's Schism

On August 29th, 2023, Gu decided to leave the team, due to the better opportunities he appeared to see on team Runtime Terror, violating a clause of the WATT Charter. He was hastily recommissioned after great strain, and team operations returned to normal.
